Heavy Heart

Too often, we forget how short our lives really are. We take for granted the little things that really make our lives special and meaningful. We sometimes complain way too much. We are not thankful for the jobs we have. Wish we had things way beyond our means. We don't call our friends enough. We don't make time to hang out with our families as much as we can. Forget about stopping to smell the roses, we are way too busy , always on the go. And it's really sad, that someone close has to die in order to realize just how special (and short) life truly is.
On February 23rd, a dear friend of mine had cardiac arrest at the young age of 31. How this can happen to someone so young is still so incomprehensible to me, just shows how tricky and powerful (or powerless) the human body can be. He gave his lovely wife, family, and friends two weeks to spend time with and say goodbye before his final day on March 9th. I am so happy I had the chance to say goodbye to my dear longtime friend. My heart aches for the family. My heart is so very heavy.

Where it all began....1998. Oh so young. We met first semester of college. He asked me out to dance at a friends party. He was so very goofy and had this charisma that was just cool. A lifelong friendship blossomed.

He had just gotten married less than 6 months ago.

Us at his wedding last September.

Peter and I with our dear friend.

With Peter 4th of July, 2008. So funny. He wanted to be so gangsta on my pink bike.

A picture I remember taking a few years ago while at a boat show in Newport Beach. So handsome in his manly pink shirt :-)

He will forever be in my heart. My thoughts are with his wife and family every single day. I can't imagine the pain they are feeling.

Alex, you will be missed very much.

XoXo

P.S. Sorry for the lack of posts...now you know why. Could not get myself motivated to blog about pretty, happy things. Promise will get back to pretties this week (hopefully, am also crazy planning for my sisters baby shower).

  2. I am so very sorry for your loss. It is hard to comprehend why God chose this young man to leave this world at such an early age with his life just beginning but one thing I am sure of is God must have great things planned for him. Please accept my deepest condolences at the loss of your dearest friend.
