Chalkboard Frame DIY

Bought this old frame with a "fake" painting at a thrift store a while back for about $5, if that. Actually had it hanging in the bedroom for a while, then I just got tired of it's depressing state, so I put it away. When I did my Spring cleaning this year (in the Summer) I found it again...went out and bought me some chalkboard paint (used Rust-Oleum Chalk-Board latex paint)....

And turned this.......into that.

Then prepped it with these little steps.

Wrote a little this one.

And hung it in the kitchen, on the refrigerator, using velcro.

I chose the fridge because I plan to use it to write 'to do' lists, grocery lists, recipes, little love notes, etc. I think it adds a bit of coziness to the kitchen. I'm loving it.

Now I have left over chalkboard paint (remember I also painted THIS with the paint)...oh what else should I paint? I'm hooked.

  1. I really love what you did! It's fantastic. I did a similar thing with a frame only I placed a piece of my favorite fabric beneath the glass instead of a painting and bought a dry eraser marker that can be used on glass. Voila~ a chalk board of sorts. I use mine to write my grocery list on. :)

  2. You did such a great job with the frame. I love chalkboard paint. Also, I love this quote!

  3. WAW that's VERY cool!

    Great idea!
